For the last day of our intensive Chinese class, our teachers took us to the countryside to pick peaches! While it was swelteringly hot and humid, it was a great experience and I hope to do so again on a much cooler day.
First we had to walk/hike out to the peach orchard
A little plot we passed along the way:
The locusts were so loud it hurt our ears!
Lizzy didn't quite know what to make of what we were doing at first.
But she got into it.
Oh, wait, we're here to pick peaches. That's right.
Then we headed back to a restaurant for lunch, where we had to prepare a lot of the ingredients.
Mantou (steamed bread)
Bean curd?
Corn:
And Corn Meal:
A hot but fun day for all!

Ruth, It sure is nice to hear from you. Mom & Rachel are going fishing July 28th & July 29th. July 30th is Amy Brecht's wedding.
With all my love.
