In case you haven't heard yet, this is the year of the Snake.
We had the opportunity to celebrate the holiday in several ways. Our school every year has an all staff party where we can experience many cultural activities. We had:
Jiaozi making
Caligraphy
Also, paper cutting, a talent show, a feast together, and of course fireworks.
Another day our Chinese helper invited us to her house, where we made more jiaozi and had more food than 7 people could eat in a month :-)
On the bus to her house
More jiaozi
Daddies and their babies. When we first came with this couple 4 1/2 years ago, there were no kids! Now there are three amongst us.
The start of the food:
After we had eaten for a couple hours:
That night, we had more fireworks, this time set off by our neighbors. Matthew and I stayed in the warm house, while Nathan and Lizbeth went out to have a front row view. Lizbeth was a bit scared (she has a love/hate relationship with fireworks) so she took her bear with her.
Happy Chinese New Year (even if I am more than a month late in posting this)!

Thanks for posting sis. The food looks wunderbar!!!
You can't always tell from Skype how tall Lizbeth is getting! Enjoy getting some pictures. I also had a love/hate relationship with fireworks when I was Lizbeth's age-I liked the lights but hated the sound-so I wore big headphone my dad would use in the wood shop (aka the garage).
